St Leo's is a Catholic men's residential College located within The University of
Queensland's St Lucia campus. The College provides benchmark accommodation
services, pastoral support and academic assistance to 200 plus men undertaking
undergraduate and post-graduate studies.
St Leo's commenced as a Catholic College at The University of Queensland in 1917.
As one of the first colleges affiliated with the University it has a proud collegiate
history and strong relationship with the University characterised by its academic,
sporting, cultural, social, faith based opportunities.
The College also has a University-wide reputation for commercial catering and
conferencing excellence and supplies casual accommodation when the University is
not in session.
The Position
The College in planning its strategic direction for 2023 has identified the need to
appoint a Marketing, Communication and Advancement Manager and seeks
expressions of interest from suitable candidates.
This is a permanent part-time position of 32 hours per week, envisaged as 4 days
per week.
The role has a broad remit and reports to the Head of College and CEO. The
successful candidate will strengthen the College's management team by undertaking
the following key duties:
• Build and enhance relationships with the many diverse stakeholders, that form
the St Leo's College community
• Develop and co-ordinate in collaboration with the College Executive and Director
of Hospitality, the College's communications and branding, promotion and
marketing, and events management activities across its residential, catering and
conferencing (hospitality) services
• Co-plan and co-ordinate the College social and fundraising events
• Synchronise, oversee and communicate all College events across the College's
residential, hospitality, alumni and foundation activities.
The Person
To fulfil this role you will be able to demonstrate your:
Ability to work effectively in a residential student environment as part of a team and
to work autonomously with limited supervision to achieve target outcomes
Experience (minimum 5 years) in developing and leading successful fundraising
programs or a skill set deployable to achieve same
High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of
stakeholders in building rapport across multiple demographic and cultural groups
Awareness of developments in social media and the ability to leverage those
opportunities to the College's advantage in designing and deploying a contemporary
multi-channel media strategy.
Experience in dealing with confidential and sensitive information, influencing,
consulting and negotiating
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Financial literacy consistent with the level of appointment.
Ability to commit to the College's strategic direction and in contributing as a member
of the St Leo's College team.
Advanced skills in the deployment of social media; and use of MS Office and Adobe
suite of programs, CRM and database packages, eg: StarRez.
