Scholarships and Bursaries

Rewarding future residents

St Leo’s scholarships are for sporting, cultural, academic and music excellence and our equity bursaries are to assist those residents who, but for the support of the College, wouldn’t be able to live at St Leo’s.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a current Year 12 student, matriculation year secondary student or gap year student
  • Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, hold an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • Be relocating from his permanent home address in order to attend university
  • Have completed an application for residency at St Leo’s College
  • Be studying at UQ to be eligible for certain scholarships, however other scholarships are open to students from QUT, CQU, ACU, USQ or Griffith Universities

All current St Leo’s scholarships and bursaries are conferred at entry into First Year. A healthy proportion of new residents receive some form of scholarship.

St Leo’s College x UQ Music Achievement Scholarship

St Leo’s College partners with UQ to offer 3 College Music Achievement Scholarships per year.

The scholarship is payable as a fee reduction for accommodation fees at St Leo’s College.

St Leo's College x UQ Residential Scholarship

The purpose of the UQ Residential Scholarships is to assist domestic undergraduate students experiencing financial hardship to study at The University of Queensland.

Applications will be considered for any relevant residential scholarship(s) within the Scheme in accordance with the information provided.

Wests Rugby Scholarship

St Leo’s College has partnered with Wests Rugby Union Football Club (Wests Bulldogs) to provide a Rugby Excellence Scholarship.

The Scholarships are valued at $4,000 per award in the form of reduced accommodation instalments across unbroken 2-year residencies commencing 2025.  Play for Wests and live at Leo’s!

GradReady 2024 Principal's Scholarship

GradReady awards one student residing at St Leo’s a GradReady GAMSAT Attendance (Comprehensive) Course annually.

The scholarship is designed for prospective medical students and provides them with comprehensive preparation for the Graduate Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT).
