Christmas in July
During the first week back at Leo’s all of our Residents attended the annual Christmas in July celebration. Staff and Residents alike brought gifts which have been given to the children of refugee families.
Centenary Mass
On Sunday August 6 we took a bus load of our Residents to St Stephen’s Cathedral where our Centenary Mass was con-celebrated by the Archbishop of Brisbane, Mark Coleridge and the Bishops of Toowoomba and Townsville.
Some of our current Residents, Staff and Members of Council took part in the ceremony by reading and offering gifts.

Centenary Long Lunch
Following the Centenary Mass we held a celebratery Long Lunch back at St Leo’s. Residents and guests enjoyed lunch and Archbishop Coleridge gave the Centenary address. He talked about the history of the College and Archbishop Duhig’s ambition and foresight in setting up a Catholic college at UQ. He also gave us an insight into our motto: Dominus Illuminatio Mea.

On the same day as the Centenary Mass and Long Lunch was also the annual UQ Open Day. Staff members showed around prospective new families and their sons hoping to reside at Leo’s during 2018 or 2019. It was a lovely opportunity for families to see a ‘formal’ dinner in action as one of the unique elements of living here at the College.
Stay safe, enjoy the break and we look forward to welcoming our new residents next year!
